Huang Zhi-Yang

“… in my view, it’s always important to consider matters from the vantage point of a bit of time and distance. consequently, i tend to view life from the sidelines, deliberately maintaining some distance from the mainstream, seemingly ‘drifting away’ from the main currents of everyday life. ‘drifting away’ for me, usually means questioning my surroundings and the status quo. you could say i’ve developed an attitude towards life that i adhere to, where i intentionally keep some distance from the mainstream and from what might be considered central to others. for most, contemporary art is widely accepted as integral to every day life. however, this does not mean that trends in contemporary art can solve all of life’s problems nor become part of the mainstream.

“most so-called ‘contemporary art’ is no more than a byproduct or phenomenon needed to meet the demands of the marketplace and our endless appetite for the latest consumer products and spectacle. today, much of ‘contemporary art’ never goes beyond creating faint shadows of societal reality, images so far removed from reality that they often appear fake and vulgar. unlike ‘modern art’ of the past, which sought to depict the heavy weight of reality and flesh-and-blood activities, today’s ‘contemporary art’ often lacks meaning and substance, typically conforming to what is popular – and superficial – in every day life. so in my view, it is time to find a more appropriate term for what passes these days as ‘contemporary art’.” – huang zhiyang

texas, zen oaza.

avgust, avgust, avgust

paris, texas? wim wenders 1984…

he dreamed about this place without knowing its name.”

proći i dahtati, jedva disati. makar i puzati. a gledati. kroz njen teksas. georgia o’keffe! kada je kao mlada živela tamo

„i lived on the plains of north texas for four years,“ she wrote in 1919. „it is the only place i have ever felt that i really belonged–that i really felt at home.“ … „but i belonged,“ o’keeffe told a friend. „that was my country–terrible winds and a wonderful emptiness.

georgia o’keeffe, evening star no. VI, 1917.

“that evening star fascinated me. it was in some way very exciting to me. my sister had a gun, and as we walked she would throw bottles into the air and shoot as many as she could before they hit the ground. i had nothing but to walk into nowhere and the wide sunset space with the star. ten watercolors were made from that star,” georgia o’keeffe

i svetlo!!!

In the 1970s, minimalist artist Donald Judd moved to Marfa, Texas, where he created giant works of art that bask beneath vast desert skies. In the years since, Marfa has emerged as a hot spot for art tourism.

„my favorite place is the rothko chapel. it is the citizen kane of chapels—a different experience every time. sometimes transcendent, sometimes foreboding, often exhilarating, occasionally tedious, each experience is a confluence of the natural light, the other visitors—if any—and your own mood in the moment. the one constant: total absorption into the dark, imposing rothko canvases. what a combination of art and architecture! i try to visit every time i’m in houston—it’s a habit i got into in the eighties. “ (richard linklater)

avgust 2016. godine je ova stvar grupe talking heads. olimpijske igre. crne hronike. venecijanski filmski festival na njegovom samom kraju. izbeglička kriza na svom početku. velika seoba naroda. i mala noćna muzika. suze i smeh. život i smrt. moralni zakon tek u ponekom biću. i zvezdano nebo iznad teksasa i iznad svih nas…
